Change: Acceptance & Commitment
-
“He/She that will not apply new remedies must expect new evils” -Franics Bacon
-
“If you want something to change, you have to do something different.”
Change is difficult and uncomfortable.
Its success depends on clear, effective communication,
clearly defined roles and expectations, and most importantly,
unwavering commitment and effective leadership.
There is the
fantasy of change and then there is the reality of change.
Crossroad Business Consulting with help you achieve the
reality you’ve always envisioned by being your solution leader and
partner in change.
For results to change, there needs to be a new turn in the process
and a philosophy behind it.
It is human nature to resist change and if not implemented
carefully and strategically, change can and will push you even more
off track.
There are two forms of change - proactive and reactive.
Proactive change
is accepting change and planning for change to occur.
It’s an ideology that you maintain, a mindset.
A friend that’s used to your advantage.
You become change.
You adapt, improve and ultimately stay ahead of your
competitors. You are a
market leader.
Reactive change
is the result of change resistance.
By keeping change at bay, your environment has evolved to a
degree that you are forced to change.
It is now necessary for survival.
With reactive change, your window of opportunity to do
something different is small and rushed, reducing the chance that
any change is implemented successfully.
So, when we do come across “something different,” how do we make it work? Of course, with every strategy and plan, there are steps and tools, but the primary element of any successful change initiative is commitment. Implementing a new Customer Relationship Management (CRM) program is a good example. More than half of all new CRM programs do not accomplish their goals upon execution. The lack of commitment to a program, regardless of the program implemented, is the number one reason why it‘s unsuccessful.

Founder, Paul Shampine
The diversity and depth of Paul’s professional experience gives him
a uniquely balanced perspective of an inventive entrepreneur and a
structurally and profit-driven corporate executive. During his
20-year career as a leader in finance, publishing and private
enterprise, Paul has intertwined
the core principles of objectivity, creativity and productivity,
which he believes are the common threads for success.
Paul’s financial background started as a NASD licensed Financial
Planner which soon lead
to experience as a Commodity
and Futures trader, a more aggressive, high leverage investing.
Excelling in the financial industry, Paul became the youngest
Vice President in the history of one of New England’s most
progressive and pioneering financial institutions, where he
experienced the great values of innovation and forward thinking.
Despite his financial forte, Paul’s creative side eventually emerged
in true form as he began to create and design metal and stone
sculpture, which
were exhibited and sold through the Northeast.
This work helped to complete his rare mix, and Paul became
CEO of a Maine-based media company, where his B2B and B2C portfolio
of media reached thousands of individuals, through regional
publishing, event production, and other media including a show on
the national cable network HGTV.
In reflecting upon his reasons for founding Crossroad Business
Consulting, Paul said, “Over the years, I’ve always identified with
the small business owner - whether I was fighting the same battle
along side them or as their banker, and I’ve developed a tremendous
amount of respect for this unique breed of human beings.
They have drive, passion and determination unlike any
professional I’ve encountered.”
“I’ve helped many small businesses along my professional journey and
have enjoyed the special bond that it creates,” he added. “Crossroad
Business Consulting aims to do just that.”
